NORTH KOREAN-LED CATFISH GANG SCAMS BILLIONS FROM AMERICANS Since 2021, a shady gang tied to North Korea has been catfishing Americans out of billions with fake love stories and crypto lies. Yeah—romance scams, but global and evil. They used Cambodia’s Huione Group to slide into DMs, sweet-talk people (mostly retirees), then suck them into fake investments called “pig butchering.” Gross name, worse scam. One woman lost $26,000 to a guy she met on Tinder who said he was a construction boss in Indiana. He was actually in Nigeria, probably laughing in an office full of Bitcoin ATMs. The U.S. Treasury is done with the drama—it’s cutting Huione off from U.S. banking and trying to shut this scam factory down for good. Sorry, North Korea, no more love-money heists. Source: NYP
