@MarioNawf🇨🇳 CHINA’S ‘MELTDOWN-PROOF’ REACTOR TAKES THE LEAD IN NUCLEAR INNOVATION The spark came from the Gobi Desert: Chinese scientists have added fresh fuel to their experimental thorium molten salt reactor, marking a world first. The 2-megawatt prototype, cooled and powered by molten salt and thorium, is now operational — and it’s being called “meltdown-proof.” The kicker? Much of the tech was based on declassified U.S. research abandoned in the 1960s. Chief scientist Xu Hongjie: “We mastered every technique in the literature — then pushed further. The tortoise seized its chance.” Thorium is cleaner, safer, and more abundant than uranium. It produces no weapons-grade by-products, eats up nuclear waste, and resists meltdowns. As the West scrambles to restart its nuclear ambitions, China may have just sprinted ahead. Source: SCMP,
