The latest court news regarding Alison Chawke and Bill Chawke, the daughter and son of publican Charlie Chawke, involves their return for trial on charges of assault causing harm to two men at the Dunraven Arms Hotel in Adare, Co Limerick. On December 3, 2024, at Newcastle West District Court, Garda Ronan Hayes served both accused with the State’s Book of Evidence. Bill Chawke, 30, faces two counts of assault causing harm, allegedly involving punching both victims, gouging one’s eyes, and hitting one’s head against a bar counter. Alison Chawke is also charged in connection with the incident.

Inspector Barry Manton stated that the Director of Public Prosecutions consented to both being sent forward for trial at Limerick Circuit Criminal Court, with no date yet scheduled. Both declined to proceed with a signed plea and made no reply when charged. Judge Carol Anne Coolican issued an “alibi warning,” requiring any alibi witness details to be provided to the State within 14 days. They were released on €100 non-cash bail bonds. Their solicitor, Michael Finucane, secured a Section 56 order for disclosure of their Garda interview recordings.
