COMPARE & CONTRAST COOLOCK & DUBLIN 4 IPAS VICTORY MEDIA & POLITICAL COVERAGE When people in D4 “won” against the state putting an migrant IPAS centre in their upmarket, affluent homogenous neighbourhood, we didn’t see Aodhan O Riordain criticising that. But when the people of COOLOCK won, this elitist snob had lots to say: The Labour MEP Coolock Crown Paints Factory should have been “an integratkon success story” and that “the government decision played into the a hands of violent protesters, and he called for an inquiry into the handling of this issue. He said elected representatives who supported the plans now felt foolish. Everybody wanted this to be a success story.” He said EVERY public representative, EVERY TD and councillor was on board.” Doesn’t seem to matter to him that the PEOPLE OF COOLOCK WHO HAVE TO LIVE THERE weren’t on board. He’s right, though. They WERE on board and are NOW frantically backpeddling and pretending they always supported the people of Coolock. Do they not realise we have the receipts to expose their duplicitous and deceitful behaviour? As for the media. Look at the headline in The Irish Times. The people of D4 felt relief. Because their house prices wouldn’t be affected (their multi-million homes. The media and political commentary is favourable. Never critical of these upper class people, who support (by and large) uncontrolled mass immigration. Just not in their area. The people of Coolock however…THEIR victory is reported with a picture of the Crown site on fire. It is reported in the context of the whole community apparently being violent and bad racists for having safety concerns abour their children (surely children matter MORE than house prices?). Children who already are neglected and ignored by the system at every turn. It’s disgusting. It’s also frankly quite pathetic that so many politicians (SF, Soc Dems etc) are scrambling to now say it’s wonderful for Coolock people and that they had always sided with what they wanted. THEY DIDN’T. By the way, I say “won” because I don’t believe Sachs was ever going to be used as an IPAS centre. It was an illusion to make it seem like the state is not just ruining deprived communities and rural towns. Just like the “75% of asylum claims are rejected headlines” are fake. They don’t tell you that those 75% are helped legally and financially to appeal until they CAN stay. WELL DONE TO THE COMMUNITY OF COOLOCK. YOUR VICTORY IS WELL DESERVED AND IT WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY.
