When Hitler came to power, he joined the Stormtroopers (“brownshirts”) and eventually achieved the rank of Obersturmführer. He was very enthusiastic about renaming streets. In Brilon, streets were named Adolf-Hitler-Straße and Hermann-Göring-Straße.
