Ian Bailey is dead. Ireland’s most notorious murder case has thus reached its endgame because on a winter’s night 27 years ago, it was a drunk and possibly drugged Ian Bailey who made his way to a cottage in Toormore in west Cork, and knocked on the door.

All of Ireland knows who was in the cottage: Sophie Toscan du Plantier, a mother of one, a filmmaker, a writer, a woman and a human being.
