All of this stuff from the U.S. aside, it’s pretty well clear that most of the Irish people don’t want these anti-free speech laws. We didn’t ask for them, we already have decent laws as it is and we don’t want speech restrictions imposed from Brussels. There are plenty more Europeans that don’t want them either. Perhaps this is a time to say a polite ‘no thank you’ to Brussels and figure out with them how Ireland gets an opt-out or whatever. Imposing fines is not going to be a good look for Brussels & will increase anti-EU sentiment.
