Irish Nursing Homes, the Scandal, Comment here, The toe-rags who treat elderly people like shit deserve to be chucked into a septic tank and left to rot; they don’t deserve to be treated like human beings or indeed animals of any species. Meanwhile everyone who owns a nursing home or has shares in one should be told the party is over; it’s no longer acceptable to make profits from old people’s life savings. The Fair Deal scheme should be disbanded and the money returned to the old people from whom those assets were seized (or, if they are no longer alive, given to the family members who cared for them at home and reluctantly put them into nursing homes believing they would be safe and well cared for).

People who opposed the legislation to expand the definition of the word “family” have left this loophole wide open, so of course people are going to continue to say in cases such as this that there are three families, each with its own mother, whereas in fact there is just one – polygamous – family.
