Iran has launched one of the largest deportations ever. 600 000 illegal migrants from Afghanistan have been in the past 6 weeks. The number has increased in the past 10 days with between 30,000-50,000 migrants being deported daily at the moment. Pakistan launched a similar deportation campaign against illegal migrants from Afghanistan in September 2023 and has since deported 1.6 million Afghans. Iran and Pakistan have now deported a total of 2.2 million Afghans in the past 2 years. Europe has taken in 1 million migrants from Afghanistan since the European Migration Crisis started in the summer of 2015. They are significantly overrepresented in Europe’s crime statistics as perpetrators of sexual crimes, petty crimes, violent assaults and murders. Europe has been unable or unwilling to deport practically any Afghan migrants at all.
