UKRAINE WANTS $120B FOR DEFENSE IN 2026…WAIT…WHAT?! Ukraine’s Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal said Kyiv needs $120B to keep protecting itself next year – and is asking NATO and EU allies to chip in $60B. For context: NATO’s entire common budget (separate from individual defense budgets of its member countries) for 2026 is $5.7B. That funds the whole alliance, its operations, and military command structure. So yeah, Ukraine’s ask is roughly ten times what NATO spends to run itself. Source: NATO, Reuters
