The nursing home has issued an apology

A PENSIONER died from aspiration after a waterproof duvet was pulled over her head in a nursing home, an inquest heard.
Tragic Marcella O’Sullivan, 95, of Assumption Road, Blackpool, in Cork city died on April 13, 2022 in the Bridhaven Nursing Home in Mallow.She suffered from severe dementia, was bed-ridden and on liquid food because she had difficulty swallowing, Cork County Coroner’s Court heard.
When staff found her body, they saw another resident, who has since died, sitting in a chair in the room.
This woman, who roamed the corridors of the nursing home unrestricted, had visited Mrs O’Sullivan’s room 122 times on the day of her death from 11.52am to 6.56pm.
In the space of an hour she had entered the room 53 times, according to CCTV footage examined over days by a Garda expert.
