Ashling Murphy’s death should have been a defining moment for Irish society, just like Veronica Guerin’s murder was. Ryan Casey’s words were a stark warning that demanded attention, yet we ignored them. Worse still, some smeared him as far right simply for speaking the truth. What sort of society have we become when people feel enabled to do that? This government obsesses over headcount and GDP growth, indifferent to where the numbers come from or what it’s doing to Irish society. Politicians are insulated from the fallout; they live in Garda-protected communities, driven around in state Mercs with even people to open doors for them. Don’t attempt to argue they live in the real world the rest of us live in. They face zero consequences. They collect their pot of gold no matter the outcome. When they bankrupted the country, we saw that. The entire system is rigged against the people. The politicians can’t lose. Ireland needs a new political party and fast. Otherwise we are done for.
