A technical examination of the scene has already taken place

A MAN has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being attacked in Dublin city centre overnight.

The horror assault took place in the Temple Bar square area of Dublin 2 shortly after midnight in the early hours of this morning.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene at around 12:30am.

The victim, understood to be a tourist aged in his 40s, remains in a critical condition in Beaumont Hospital.
