We now have two Traveller caravans trespassing on land we hold under a 99 year lease. The wooden fence, which I and neighbours personally put up years ago, has been flattened. I engaged in respectful discussion with their family members. I was told that one of the caravans was (understandably) evicted by the council from the place it was parked right beside a nearby council house. It was parked there illegally. Now it’s on our land, illegally. Supposedly the family living in the caravan are waiting for a council house. Very obviously there isn’t one available but how could there be when we have Fraudulent ‘Asylum Seekers’ being housed all over the country. Now an appalling Government failure becomes a very personal problem for me and my nearest neighbours. These are real downstream consequences of not putting policy where our mouth is. Out of respect for the privacy of those concerned I will refrain from posting photos.
