A Co Down woman who falsely claimed two men broke into her house, tied her up and sexually assaulted her has narrowly avoided jail.

Elizabeth Bates claimed the attackers left a note threatening her children if she didn’t withdraw police statements alleging a man she had known had been sending her threatening and sexually explicit emails.
