AN international drug lord who worked for ‘The Family’ mob has been deported from Ireland.

The Irish Sun can reveal Ali Adnan Duran, 57, was escorted back to Turkey by armed Gardai on Thursday.

Duran had been identified as a “high-priority” target by the Garda National Immigration Bureau.

He was taken from the high-security Portlaoise jail to Cloverhill Prison before being placed on a flight to Antalya.

One source told us: “This individual is a serious figure in organised crime and is now back in Turkey.

“He had connections to major crime groups in Ireland and that’s why the decision was made to Deport him.

n a previous interview with The Irish Sun, Det Chief Supt Aidan Minnock confirmed several criminals had been deported from the State in recent months.

The Family gang are now classified by Gardai under Operation Compact as one of Ireland’s primary transnational drug trafficking mobs.

The crime syndicate previously played second fiddle to the Kinahan cartel when it came to drugs importation, firearms smuggling and money laundering operations.

But since the convictions of senior Kinahan goons such as Declan ‘Mr Nobody’ Brady and Thomas ‘Bomber’ Kavanagh, The Family are now the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau’s number one target.
