Presidential candidate Jim Gavin is ­fighting “malicious smears” about his private life that have spread across social media since he was declared as Fianna Fáil’s choice for Áras an Uachtaráin.

The former Dublin GAA manager and his family have been deeply hurt and distressed by accusations published on platforms including X, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
