A TEENAGER is lucky to be alive after being knifed up to 20 times in a second stabbing attack in the capital in less than 24 hours.

Detectives from Store Street Garda Station are hunting a group of thugs who set upon the victim at around 10pm on Sunday night.

The 17-year-old had been refused entry to the Wiley Fox pub on Eden Quay before he was attacked and stabbed.

He tried to flee on foot but was followed and knifed repeatedly again.

It’s understood he suffered injuries to his head, his torso and neck among on areas of his body.

There was fears he would not make it however there was a quick response by emergency services and Gardai, before the young lad was rushed to the Mater Hospital.

He remains in a critical condition tonight.

Gardai are reviewing CCTV and working to identify the attackers, whose faces were covered.

The young men fled the scene on e-scooters.

Gardai are probing if it was linked to a verbal exchange earlier in the evening.

“Gardai are appealing to anyone with information in relation to this incident or who may have video footage to contact Store Street Garda Station on (01) 666 8000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
