Jim Gavin has questions to answer over allegations he refused to return over €3,000 owed to former tenant – Thomas Gould TD

Sinn Féin Junior Housing Spokesperson Thomas Gould TD has called on Fianna Fáil Presidential candidate Jim Gavin to respond with clarity to allegations reported in the media today that he refused to refund over €3000 to his former tenant. 

Teachta Gould said:

“This is very serious. The allegation made by the former tenant is that he overpaid Fianna Fáil presidential candidate for rent to the tune of over €3000 and that his efforts to get the money back were ignored despite numerous requests sent to Mr Gavin. The money was never returned. 

“Mr Gavin says he doesn’t recall. That’s not credible and it’s not good enough. He must immediately bring clarity to the matter.

“Renters across the country are being ripped off by extortionate rents that Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael have failed to tackle. These issues go to the heart of a housing emergency that has cheated an entire generation out of affordable housing and secure life. Mr Gavin can’t brush this under the carpet with a shrug of his shoulders.
