Ireland is projected to spend approximately €3.5B Euro on asylum accommodation and related services in 2026. In comparison, last year the United Kingdom spend an equivalent of approximately €6.2B of the same. British tax payer – about €90 per. Irish tax payer – about €650 per. Irish tax payers shoulder seven times the burden of our British counterpart. Our state spends more on asylum seekers per capita than another that has a population larger by a magnitude of thirteen times! And nominally, despite our population being only about 7.5% of theirs and our GDP only being 13.5%, our sum spent on asylum seekers is astoundingly about 60%! The UK GDP% spent on asylum seekers and related services last year was about 0.17. Ours next year will be about 0.6! THREE AND A HALF TIMES MORE!!! In the last four years, the number of IPAS centres in Ireland has gone from 45 to 320! Between 60-85% of asylum seekers in Ireland during this period were found to not have sufficient accompanying documentation!
