GARDAI are probing if a 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death in the kitchen of an emergency residential unit after a row over food.

And one shocked resident told The Irish Sun: “I was in the bedroom and I heard banging about 11am and then, shortly after, there was screaming.”

The victim, an asylum seeker, named locally as Vadym Davydenko, is understood to have only been in the country a few days.

He was brutally attacked and murdered in the Grattan Wood apartment block in Donaghmede, north Dublin before midday today.

It is understood he suffered multiple stab wounds to his head, chest and body in the flat, which the child and family agency Tusla confirmed housed four unaccompanied children seeking international protection.

The suspect, also 17, was restrained and pepper sprayed by armed cops.
