A man was left with serious injuries after a vicious daylight knife and baseball bat attack, which gardaí believe is related to ongoing gang violence in south Co. Dublin.
The shocking incident – which was caught on camera – shows two men attacking another man who was sitting in the driver’s seat of a car. One attacker is armed with a baseball bat, while the other can be seen stabbing the man in the car several times.
The harrowing attack happened in the Loughlinstown area of Dublin on Monday afternoon. The videos show a bloodied scene after paramedics rushed the victim to St Vincent’s Hospital in south Dublin. The victim is expected to survive the attack.
Gardaí said no arrests have yet been made, but their investigations are continuing. The footage of the shocking incident shows the face of one of the men quite clearly.
Gardaí are hopeful of identifying this person shortly, an informed source told Extra.ie yesterday. The source also told of serious ongoing problems with teenagers in balaclavas using e-bikes to deliver drugs in the area.
‘This is your typical pizza delivery-style drug gang,’ they told Extra.ie. ‘Someone texts someone looking for drugs, and then their location is sent to these lads on the e-bikes, and off they go. I am not exaggerating when I say they can be there within 10 or 15 minutes. That’s how available this stuff is.’

The source continued: ‘The attack we saw in Loughlinstown was not to do with the lads on the e-bikes. They’re just the delivery guys. This was an attack done in broad daylight as part of an ongoing feud, most likely over a drug debt. Gardaí are obviously looking to see what they can get from the victim but often in these cases the victims aren’t up for talking for quite obvious reasons.
‘But this is the reality of what is happening on the ground here. This is the result of the young lads delivering on e-bikes. But these young lads are just at the bottom of the pile. They are being supplied by mid-level dealers who have to get their supply from higher-ups. They can be seen every day of the week flying around the area on the e-bikes with balaclavas on.

‘It’s a sinister sight to look at but then there’s the safety of the people around them as well. The speed they’re going at… They could easily knock into someone.’
Local Fine Gael Councillor Jim Gildea said he was shocked by the attack – but not surprised. He told Extra.ie: ‘What we saw in Loughlinstown wasn’t the same young lads who are out there causing hassle for people. Those young lads are for sure going around delivering drugs. This has been a big problem for a long time. The gardaí have intervened on multiple occasions. They are aware of it, and the council is aware of it.’
He continued: ‘It’s a big problem in Kilbogget Park. We’ve had a few incidents of kids playing in the park and these lads will come in and do donuts around them and scare the bejesus out of them. There was another serious attack on Wyatville Road [beside the park] a few weeks ago. This was when a load of them arrived up on bikes and attacked another man in a car. They surrounded him and attacked the man.
‘This is broad daylight as well. The council is working on more cameras for the area at the moment. But this is a lovely area and a lovely community. The gardaí have confiscated a lot of e-bikes in the last while, and there’s only so much they can do when people are of a certain age.
‘On what happened yesterday, it’s unacceptable that it happens in a community and in neighbourhoods where people are living, and there were no attempts to hide what they were doing. It’s a shocking thing to do in a residential area.’
In a statement on the attack, An Garda Síochána said: ‘Gardaí received a report of an alleged incident of assault in Loughlinstown, Co. Dublin this afternoon, Monday, 20th October 2025. A man aged in his 20s was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Enquiries are ongoing.’
