Ireland is still reeling from the murder of Ashling Murphy — a loss that has left our hearts heavy and our communities questioning how this could happen. Her tragic death is not just a personal loss but a national concern, calling into question the systems that are supposed to protect our citizens.

The man responsible, Josef Puska, along with members of his family, manipulated the compassion of our nation while showing blatant disregard for its laws and people. This tragedy has exposed serious flaws in our residency and citizenship vetting processes, highlighting a critical need for reform.

We urge a comprehensive review of Ireland’s citizenship and residency procedures to ensure that applicants exhibit a genuine commitment to respecting Irish law and embracing social responsibility. This is a foundational step to guarantee that those granted residency truly value and uphold our standards of safety and ethics.

Moreover, we propose legislation that mandates deportation for convicted murderers and their accomplices after they have served their sentences, in cases where it is legally and ethically permissible. Such legislation would act as a deterrent and demonstrate Ireland’s commitment to protecting its people.

To ensure transparency and accountability, it is essential that the financial implications of these cases on the State are publicly reported. The citizens of Ireland deserve to know the costs incurred and the burden placed on our community.

Finally, we need a national dialogue to balance our values of generosity and compassion with the necessity of maintaining firm standards that protect the integrity and safety of our society. Ireland has always been a welcoming nation, but we must ensure that our generosity aligns with justice and accountability to safeguard our communities.

Ashling Murphy’s legacy must not be forgotten. Let this be the turning point where Ireland stands firm for safety, fairness, and accountability. Join us in demanding these critical changes. Sign this petition now to honor Ashling Murphy’s memory by advocating for a safer Ireland.

This case has once again exposed how the generosity of the Irish people and the State’s social supports can be deeply abused. The cost to the taxpayer of incarceration (estimated at €88,000 per person per year) and foster care (€400 per child per week) is staggering — but beyond financial impact, it is the moral and emotional toll that has left so many of us shaken.

We the undersigned citizens demand the immediate deportation of these criminals on release from prison.
