It has sparked a surge in the number of arrest warrants issued by EU nations seeking extradition — with more than 5,000 from Germany alone in the past two years.
Arrivals from there included Sudan-born Deng Majek, who killed asylum hotel worker Rhiannon Whyte, 27, in a screwdriver attack in October last year.
But a Sun investigation into extradition cases has revealed many more are exploiting our weak borders to escape justice abroad.
Cases brought include alleged knife killer Milad Rahimi, a 25-year-old Afghan, found at the Manston Immigration Detention Centre in Kent in April.
He fled Germany, crossed France and illegally entered the UK after a 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death in a shopping centre near Hamburg in February.
National Crime Agency extradition officers arrested him and he was sent back to Germany where he is in custody awaiting trial.
Another Afghan who arrived in a small boat gave his name as Suhib Ahmadza when Border Force officials detained him.
But fingerprint analysis revealed he was 25-year-old Bashir Ahmad Bakari, who was wanted on a European arrest warrant for a knife murder in Germany.
