An 18-year-old Syrian Migrant with Swedish Citizenship has been charged with preparing a Terrorist attack in the name of the ISIS targeting the Kulturfestivalen music festival in Stockholm. According to the indictment, he attempted to manufacture explosives, purchased a body camera to film the attack, and recorded a “martyr video” as early as January. The planning allegedly took place from August 2024 to February 2025, when Säpo (Swedish Security Service) intervened. The Suspect is said to have conducted reconnaissance at the site of the festival and googled information about it. The arrest occurred on the same day he was assessed to have begun producing potentially functional explosive charges. The 18-year-old is also charged, together with a 17-year-old from Malmö, with attempted murder in Eppstein, Germany in August 2024. The duo allegedly acquired a knife, scouted the victim’s residence, and attempted to gain entry before the attack was aborted and German police were alerted. Both are additionally charged with gross participation in a Terrorist organization.
