The Monk was one of nine people arrested as part of a joint garda investigation into an alleged money laundering

GERRY ‘The Monk’ Hutch has been slapped with a near-€800,000 bill by the Criminal Assets Bureau after raids were carried out on his homes last year.

The notorious criminal has been ordered to pay hundreds of thousands of euros on an alleged unpaid tax bill from between the years 2006 to 2010.

It’s understood that The Monk received correspondence from CAB outlining the timeframe and the amount owed.

High Court proceedings have not formally begun at this time.

But there is reportedly “no chance” of The Monk paying the fees allegedly owed.

A source close to the gangster told The Irish Independent: “There’s no chance he’s paying that.”
