Gardai added that the investigation, which is being led by a Senior Investigating Officer in the eastern region, is continuing
A GARDA has been arrested as well as five others as part of a probe into drugs going missing from a garda station.
The criminal investigation began in January 2024, when a “substantial quantity” of controlled drugs went missing from a garda station in the eastern region.
Today, detective gardai from that region, supported by the Garda Anti-Corruption Unit, Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Regional Garda Cyber Crime Bureau carried out a number of searches and arrests in relation to organised crime in the area.
The AC unit arrested a member of An Garda Siochana, who has been detained under organised crime laws.
GNDOCB members investigating related alleged offences also arrested five other people, who are not members of the gardai.
One man in his 30s and a woman in her 40s are detained at Garda stations in the Midlands, while a man in his 40s is in custody at a station in the east for alleged related corruption offences, gardai said.
