He should have got in the last time. Gerard understands the people and the area. He knows inner city people, he’s an inner-city man.” Joe Egan

The Monk is eyeing another opportunity to have a crack at running for office
BIG Joe Egan insists his close pal Gerry Hutch would be the most honest politician in Leinster House as the veteran criminal considers another crack at public office.
The Monk, 62, also made his first comments on his reactivated social media pages this week — hinting that he wants to replace Paschal Donohoe in the Dail.
And he once hosted an event with Hutch and heavyweight legend Mike Tyson in Dublin in 2006.
Joe, 60, reckons Hutch — who is actively under multiple investigations — is the perfect fit to represent his home community in Dublin’s north inner city.
Egan told The Irish Sun: “He should have got in the last time. Gerard understands the people and the area. He knows inner city people, he’s an inner-city man.
“That community has been ravaged by drugs, by crime. It has been ravaged by a lot of tragedy.
