This testimony was written by a mother who grew up in state care and later had her own children removed by the same system:

Here is her testimony (which reflects that of thousands of others targeted by Tusla). “When Tusla Is Challenged: What Mothers Are Never Told. When my children were taken, I searched online for help. What I found were stories just like mine. The same phrases. The same tactics. The same devastation. The same silence. You quickly realise your story is not unique. It is standard. It is systemic. The power imbalance begins instantly. One mother against an entire network of lawyers, barristers, GALs, managers, witnesses and officials. Every mother feels the same thing: “I do not stand a chance.” But when a judge challenges Tusla, their response is not reflection. It is retaliation. Sudden calls. New applications. Access changes. Information withheld. Goalposts moved. Chaos created. This is not child centred practice. It is system protection. Thousands of mothers report the same pattern. It is not a malfunction. It is the culture. Learning the pattern gives mothers power. It prepares them. It protects them from being blindsided. It restores hope. If even one mother feels less powerless because of this [testimony], then breaking the silence is worth it.”
