A REVENUE officer fabricated evidence in a bid to secure a criminal conviction, an Irish Mail on Sunday investigation reveals. Michael O’Farrell In evidence prepared for court, the officer swore she had personally witnessed a Northern-registered jeep that had not been registered for Vehicle Registration Tax (#VRT). But on some of the dates she claimed to have spotted the €80,000 vehicle driving in the Republic, the Revenue official was actually out of the country on a boozy trip to Benidorm.

FMR FRENCH PRESIDENT SARKOZY BEGS TO LEAVE PRISON OVER FEARS OF “POISON” Nicolas Sarkozy wants out of La Santé, claiming fellow inmates are threatening to kill him and he’s scared his food is laced with poison. The 70-year-old says he can’t sleep, lives off yogurt, and suspects even the prison canteen is out to get him. Despite VIP treatment, private cell, TV, personal phone, 24/7 guards, he’s asking to serve his sentence at home with an ankle monitor. French media say he won’t touch the prison food… and doesn’t even know how to fry an egg.
