In this interview with Maria Maynes from
@griptmedia Una highlights how nationality and ethnicity are not recorded as a mandatory field on An Garda Siochana’s PULSE system, which is why the CSO do not currently publish data on migration and crime: “This is authorised under law by the Data Protection Act 2018. The law has been in place now for the last seven years and has not been acted on, to the detriment of the Irish people and the Irish criminal justice system”. Una calls on the Garda Commissioner, the Minister for Justice and the CSO to URGENTLY review PULSE so that nationality and ethnicity are recorded as a mandatory field. Other EU countries including Denmark and Sweden record and publish the facts on the correlation between migration and crime but NOT Ireland. The Irish people have a right to know the facts.
