“Doctors said pregnancy would be “too much” for a woman with Down syndrome—then I delivered healthy twins

When my husband Daniel and I said we wanted children, many people doubted us. They reminded us we both have Down syndrome and said we wouldn’t be able to handle a baby, let alone two. Doctors warned the pregnancy would be hard. But every checkup showed the same thing—our babies were doing just fine. When our twin girls, Lily and Grace, were born healthy, it felt like the first time someone said “yes” to our future. We brought them home and started learning everything step by step. Daniel helps feed them, and I keep track of their appointments. It’s not always easy, but we’re doing it together, like any new parents. People said we couldn’t build a family. But Lily and Grace proved we already had one.“ .
