In a significant development for the unsolved Sophie Toscan du Plantier murder, US forensic experts from M-Vac Systems, led by Jared Bradley, collaborated with Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) in July/August 2025 using advanced wet vacuum DNA technology to re-test old evidence from the 1996 crime scene (rocks, concrete block). The aim was to recover new DNA, potentially the killer’s, from hard-to-reach spots, leading to hopes for a breakthrough in the nearly 30-year-old case, with results eagerly awaited by Gardai.
