1921 Eoin O’Duffy organised an IRA ambush on an RIC patrol in Ballybay, Monaghan wounding two Auxiliaries. A relief patrol arrived & 1 RIC constable was killed and another Auxiliary was wounded. A civilian was also killed as was an IRA Volunteer.
