Venezuela hasn’t just been an economic disaster. It has been a forward operating base for the Islamic Republic of Iran.

For years, Maduro allowed Iranian drone production, logistics hubs, and financial networks to operate freely inside Venezuela, turning Caracas into a sanctions-busting playground for Tehran. H.ezbollah, Iran’s most reliable proxy, has been deeply embedded in this ecosystem, laundering hundreds of millions through Venezuelan banks, gold trafficking, d.rug routes, and shell companies. If U.S. strikes have now reached Iranian facilities tied to Shahed drone production in Venezuela, it marks a decisive shift. Iran’s Latin American shield, built through corruption and t.error proxies, may no longer be untouchable. Khamenei has reason to worry because the map he thought was safely distant is suddenly very close. What Iran built quietly through proxies, criminal pipelines, and friendly dictatorships is now exposed and vulnerable.
