Population replacement is an ugly word, but it’s true (…) In one generation, over 600,000 foreigners have moved to Finland. There is already twice as many of them as Swedish-speaking Finns” Teemu holds a PhD in history from Helsinki University and is a docent there. He is widely regarded as one of Finland’s most successful and prolific popular historians, known for writing engaging books on Finnish history. Topics include: • the Finnish Civil War • figures like Mannerheim and Aleksis Kivi • forest industry history Teemu has also warned that ethnic Finns could become a minority in the country by the end of this century: “The annual pace of population replacement (net immigration) is currently 50,000, plus the difference between births and deaths. Probably ethnic Finns will become a hated minority this century unless developing countries suddenly stabilize and start supporting their own excess population” The Finnish media strongly criticized his statements, claiming that he was spreading “hateful conspiracy theories.” Teemu answered that he wasn’t spreading conspiracy theories but was describing the objective changes taking place.
