The bodies of a man and a boy have been discovered at separate homes in Ballyfermot and Clondalkin in Dublin.
It is believed the victims are a father and son who had been reported missing for a short time last year, before being discovered safe and well.
Gardaí and emergency services were first called to a house in Cherry Orchard in Ballyfermot at around 8:30am this morning, where the body of the man, aged in his 40s, was found.
In follow-up inquiries, the body of the boy, believed to be 11 years old, was discovered at a house in Clondalkin.
Both homes have been preserved for forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
The coroner has been notified and the services of the Office of the State Pathologist have been requested.
The body of the man has been removed from the scene in Ballyfermot to the city morgue for a post-mortem.
The body of the boy remains at the scene in Clondalkin.

Gardaí suspect the child died violently and that the man may have subsequently taken his own life, but they are stressing that the results of post-mortem examinations will assist in determining the course of the investigation.
Both houses have been sealed for forensic examinations.
The investigation is being led by a senior investigating officer.
Gardaí have not issued an appeal for witnesses or information.
