The fraudster featured in a smash-hit RTE doc

ynn, 58, exploited a legal loophole to gain mortgages from different lenders — both on his own €6m home in Howth, Co Dublin, and several buy-to-let properties.
He hit six banks — the Bank of Ireland, National Irish Bank, Irish Life and Permanent, ACC Bank, Bank of Scotland and Irish Nationwide — for over €18million.
He was also accused of taking €12million in deposits from many Irish people for holiday apartments abroad that were never built.
He is now in Shelton Abbey Open Prison, Co Wicklow.
A source there said: “Michael is a model prisoner and has been told he will be released in early 2027.
Lynn, who sees wife Brid and their four kids on day release, featured in the RTE documentary The Fugitive.
It told the story of how he evaded the Irish authorities for several years and lived in London and Portugal before being tracked to South America.
He fled Ireland in 2007 and spent four years in a hellhole Brazilian jail before being extradited in 2018.
That was taken into account when he was jailed for five and a half years in February 2024.
Gardai have recovered just €6million of the €18million he stole.
