Syria’s President Ahmed al-Sharaa has cancelled his planned visit to Berlin, where he was scheduled to meet German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, a German government spokesperson said. Talks with German business leaders were also planned. The cancellation comes amid continued instability in Syria, following reports of a ceasefire agreement after days of clashes between U.S.-backed Syrian government forces and formally U.S.-backed Kurdish fighters.
