A TRANSGENDER woman charged with raping and sexually assaulting children took their own life ahead of an upcoming court case, an inquest heard.
Maddison Wilson, who was born a man but identified as a woman, was found dead at a coastal beauty spot in Portsmouth, Hampshire.
The alleged rapist had been due to face Southampton Crown Court charged with raping a girl under 13 and causing a girl aged five to engage in sexual activity.
An inquest heard Wilson, 37, was “struggling” with their mental health following the charge.
The defendant also felt “victimised” and three windows on their home were smashed by neighbours hours before Wilson died, it was said.
Portsmouth Coroner’s Court was told Wilson had left several notes indicating they were planning to end their life.
The defendant, who was born Mark Anthony Charles Wilson, underwent gender reassignment surgery in November 2024, the inquest was told.
According to the charge sheet, Wilson was accused of raping a young girl “with your penis” in 2011.
Wilson was also accused sexually assaulting a three-year-old boy and causing a boy of the same age to engage in sexual activity.
These counts allegedly took place in Southampton in 2017 and 2020.
The case was discontinued after Wilson’s death.
