HSE is seeking to limit the scope of the inquest into deaths of McGinley children, TD alleges in Dáil

Mr [Paul] Gogarty said he fully respected the independence of the Coroner’s Court, “but when the HSE asks for a limited scope, that request carries weight. But he added: “The legislation doesn’t prevent the coroner from establishing plain facts, including whether protocols were followed, whether procedures failed or whether systemic systemic gaps existed.” Such factual findings would be essential “if we’re serious about preventing more such tragedies”, Mr Gogarty said. Tonight the HSE said in response that it was represented at coroner’s inquests by agreement by the State Claims Agency. “The HSE provides evidence and witnesses and we co-operate fully at all times with the coroner,” it added.

I don’t understand why they would do this? Are they worried that perceived failings of their systems will be discovered? Just give Andrew the answers he needs. He’s suffered, and continues to suffer enough.
