Gardaí are investigating a fatal assault which occurred on Foster Terrace, in Ballybough, Dublin 3, overnight.
Shortly before 1.30 am Saturday 31st January, Gardaí and emergency services responded to reports of an assault that occurred on Foster Terrace, a residential area quite close to Croke Park.
A man in his 50’s was discovered with serious injuries and was subsequently pronounced dead a short time later. His body remains at the scene, awaiting the arrival of the State Pathologist.

Two women in their 60’s were taken to hospital suffering from non-life-threatening injuries and are currently being treated, but expected to be discharged later today.
The scene of the assault on Foster Terrace and another nearby house has been preserved for forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. The Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified, and a post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.
A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to lead the investigation, and an incident room has been established at Mountjoy Garda Station.
The investigation team is appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident on Foster Terrace, between 1 am and 1.30 am on Saturday, 31st January, or has any information in relation to the incident, to come forward and make contact with Mountjoy Garda Station on (01) 6668600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
