The Oslo police said Høiby was taken into custody just two days before he was due in court on charges including 38 crimes: four counts of rape, domestic violence against a former partner, and secretly filming multiple women without consent.
Høiby previously claimed he acted under the influence of cocaine and alcohol and has long struggled with drug issues.
His mother, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, is the wife of Norway’s heir, Crown Prince Haakon. Haakon is not Høiby’s father.
Reports also link Mette-Marit to files connected to the controversial billionaire Jeffrey Epstein. She reportedly stayed at his Florida residence and interacted with him even after sexual exploitation allegations were made public.
