While Gibson has already scouted locations on the island and met with Maltese Prime Minister Robert Abela, production is unlikely to begin until at least 2026 as he prioritizes filming the two-part sequel to The Passion of the Christ.

Gibson has confirmed he will produce the series and has collaborated with a “talented writer” on an extensive script, though his on-screen appearance remains uncertain due to his packed schedule.
