Sarah Ferguson is reportedly preparing to publish a candid new memoir, as a royal biographer claims the Duchess of York believes she has little left to protect – and much to gain.
Author Andrew Lownie, who penned Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, says the former duchess is considering a commercial comeback through a high-profile publishing deal.

He suggested any book would likely be carefully calibrated, arguing Ferguson would avoid deeply damaging revelations about the monarchy to protect Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie’s standing within royal circles.
“The one pressure they have over her is the daughters,” Lownie said to News.com.au.
“If she doesn’t think to really upset them [British royal family], then the daughters will lose their Christmas invitation to Sandringham, possibly their titles etc and that’s how they’re making their money now.
“Every time [a member of the York family] go to Sandringham, their value in the Middle East goes up.
“So, I think she’s going to accept that it’s a relay race, and the daughters have picked up the baton.”
Lownie also claimed the duchess sees a commercial opportunity in telling her side of the story, which may also aid with her comeback.
“I suspect a publisher will commission it and I suspect for lots of money, and I suspect she will give a big sit-down interview and make lots of money.”
While he cast doubt on the prospect of explosive disclosures akin to Prince Harry’s memoir Spare, he argued public scepticism would not necessarily dampen sales.
“People won’t believe it, but they will still buy it.”
The speculation comes as Ferguson and her former husband, Prince Andrew, face renewed attention following the latest US Department of Justice document releases relating to Jeffrey Epstein.
The disclosures have prompted intense media coverage, as both the duke and duchess referenced have been heavily mentioned in several correspondences with the convicted paedophile in the unsealed documents.
In recent days, reports have also surfaced that the couple quietly vacated Royal Lodge in Windsor and relocated to a cottage on the King’s Sandringham estate.
According to reports in the Daily Mail, the move followed conversations between King Charles and Prince William amid the mounting public pressure.
Ferguson has additionally been linked to efforts to overhaul her public relations strategy as scrutiny intensifies.
Lownie has previously alleged the duchess had a particularly close bond with Epstein, even describing her in earlier interviews as having been “madly in love” with the convicted sex offender – claims that have further fuelled controversy.
For now, Buckingham Palace has not commented on the prospect of a memoir.
If published, the book would mark Ferguson’s most high-stakes attempt yet to reshape her narrative – at a moment when the House of York once again finds itself under an unforgiving global lens.
