A man in his 30s has been arrested after a garda was injured after he was struck by a scrambler bike in west Dublin last night.
The incident occurred on a green area in Blakestown in Blanchardstown at around 9pm.
The garda, who was on foot on proactive patrol to disrupt the sale and supply of controlled drugs, approached a man who he observed driving a scrambler bike on a green area.
Gardaí said the man’s face was covered while he drove it on the green area and on footpaths, “putting members of the public at risk”.
The garda, who is aged in his 20s, was struck as the motorcyclist travelled at speed along a footpath.
He was brought to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The motorcyclist was also treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown.
He has since been arrested and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a garda station in Dublin.
The bike has also been seized.
