The tenants in 36 homes in Bridgetown, Co Wexford are to have the eviction notices previously issued to them withdrawn.
The landlord, Patchflow Ltd has said it recognises the “concern and uncertainty” that has arisen in recent weeks for tenants living in the Hazelwood housing estate.
A representative for the landlord issued a total of 36 households with Notices of Termination last Friday, just two days before the Government’s new rental rules came into effect.
As a result, around 100 people had been left in limbo after being told that the landlord intends to sell their properties.
Yesterday, a video emerged of one of the affected tenants being told that their landlord was issuing them with an eviction notice because of the new legislation.
The video footage showed the resident being told that the landlord would carefully follow “radio shows and political debate” over the subsequent days, before making a “final decision” on whether or not the tenants would be evicted.
In a statement issued this afternoon, the landlord has now said the notices are to be withdrawn in order to allow time for “constructive engagement and to support a resolution process”.
The company has said it will meet tenants on an individual basis to discuss their circumstances and explore what options may be available to them.
Patchflow Ltd has also confirmed that discussions have already begun with some tenants who have expressed an interest in purchasing their homes.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the landlord said: “Patchflow Ltd recognises the concern and uncertainty that has arisen in recent weeks for tenants living in Hazelwood Estate in Bridgetown.
“The company understands that receiving notices of termination can be deeply unsettling for tenants and their families and acknowledges the stress this situation has caused within the community.
“In order to allow time for constructive engagement and to support a resolution process, Patchflow Ltd has decided to withdraw the notices of termination that were issued to tenants.
“Patchflow Ltd can confirm that discussions have already begun with some tenants who have expressed an interest in purchasing their homes.
“Over the coming weeks the company will meet tenants on an individual basis to discuss their circumstances and explore what options may be available to them.
“This arrangement will apply on the basis that existing tenancy agreements remain in place and that all obligations under those agreements, including the payment of rent, continue to be met.
“Patchflow Ltd hopes that this extended period will allow a constructive process to move forward and create the time and space needed for solutions to be explored for all involved.
“Given that this process is now underway, it would not be appropriate to comment further at this time,” the spokesperson concluded.
