The Irish Govt has too much money. The answer to every problem seems to “Pay more”.
We are paying extraordinary amounts for services, projects and infrastructure… from 12 steps in Mount Merrion for €750k, to billions in IPAS or the Children’s Hospital.
And despite this surge in spending there have been no meaningful tax cuts.
For six weeks Simon Harris has been touring the media promoting a “savings scheme.” But if the government actually wants people to save, the solution is obvious:
Cut USC.

Cut VAT.
Raise income tax bands.
Let people keep more of what they earn!
If Harris did this he would go down as the best Minister for Finance ever. We can afford it.
