Ireland’s oldest woman was Bridget McHugh née Byrne. She lived until 117 years old here, on the banks of the Gweebarra River, in #Donegal.

Born in 1780 she remembered hearing the cannon roar from Burtonport, 30km away, when Naper Tandy landed in 1798. #InternationalWomensDay
