Gerry Hutch takes aim at Paschal Donohoe in new election video

Gerry Hutch has criticised Paschal Donohoe in his latest video surrounding the upcoming by-election.

The alleged leader of the Hutch gang, which has been embroiled in the decade-long feud with the Kinahan cartel, will contest the upcoming by-election in Dublin Central, following the resignation of former Minister Paschal Donohoe.

Hutch had previously contested the 2024 General Election, when he came close to being elected as a TD before ultimately losing out to Labour’s Marie Sherlock on the sixth count.

Announcing his candidacy in the by-election, which is set to take place in May of this year, Hutch pleaded for voter registration on February 25. He made a further plea today in a video posted to Twitter (X).

In the video, Hutch said that ‘the importance of voter registration is very important,’ and said that while Mr Donohoe resigned ‘for good reasons’ after his job offer at the World Bank, he left the Dáil ‘like a bat out of hell.’

Hutch went on to criticise Mr Donohoe over a claim that he gave the World Bank an extra €10million on top of a €131.4million which was requested by the World Bank last April, six months prior to him joining the Washington-based body.

Mr Hutch is running in the upcoming Dublin Central by-election, having previously come close to being elected in the 2024 General Election.

‘Questions need to be answered,’ Hutch said. ‘I’m chasing that seat anyway. Not as a minister, but as a TD, it’s just going to be a TD job.’

Hutch went on to wish everyone the best of luck in the by-election, and told people to ‘vote for who they’d like’ although he’d prefer if people voted for him.

Hutch contested the general election in 2024, securing over 3,000 first preference votes in the Dublin-Central constituency.
